Henkel AG & Company, KGaA, is a multinational chemical and consumer goods company, headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany. It is a company active both in the consumer and the industrial sector. The company was founded in 1876 by Friedrich Henkel in Maastricht-Aachen, Germany, who marketed his first product - a universal silicate-based detergent. Nowadays, the company has a huge product portfolio and it is organized into three corporate divisions: Laundry & Home Care, Beauty Care and Adhesive Technologies. Some of Henkel's most famous brands are Loctite, Persil, Fa, Schwarzkopf, Technomelt and Aquence. The company has approximately 50,000 employees in over 120 countries, more than 17 production facilities and 10 major R&D sites worldwide. In June 1923, the first delivery of adhesives from the facilities in Düsseldorf, Germany, was made. This milestone marked the birth of a business in which Henkel is a global leader today, namely the Adhesive Technologies. Solutions from Henkel can be found in many manufactured products which we use in our daily lives: books and magazines, furniture, textile, packaging, and many more.
